Devon Biofuels is based at Higher Sessland Farm in Spreyton Devon, call us on 01837 840614. Nestling on the edge of Dartmoor in beautiful countryside the environment is never far from our minds. Herbert Hooper set about making biodiesel almost as a hobby some years ago, then selling locally to environmentally savvy drivers he began to ramp up production. Eventually reaching a point where it was clear that larger more efficient processing plant was required. There followed a drawn out Planning Process where the new plant was designed and Environment Agency and Planning Approval sought. These have now both been acquired, and the construction phase has now been commenced. This will result in a plant that can produce millions of litres of biodiesel every year! making a significant and positive impact in providing the people of Devon with an alternative to the "dirty" fossil fuel Diesel.
Production of biologs (briquettes) continues in the existing biofuel buildings. Wood/sawdust is collected in vehicles (powered by biodiesel) and transferred in to the biomass plant where it is placed in a hopper that feeds the dust into a die that compresses the sawdust into cylinders around 70mm long and 65mm in diameter. No solvents or glues are added the sawdust waste is compressed under such pressure that it forms a compact, practical briquette with low moisture content. A great clean fuel for your woodburning stove!
